Transition Materials in Spanish

From Oil Dependance to Local Resilience

Here we reproduce information about one of the most interesting grassroots movements and purposes of the present-village concept in transition ( "Transition Towns") is emerging in England and Ireland just four years. He proposes a creative response "bottom up" to the multifaceted challenges of climate change and peak / lower energy, strengthening local structures of families, neighborhoods, districts, towns or cities and exploring a positive, empowering and transformative design communities in the future.

It is important to mention that England, as oil producing country, is experiencing a similar decline in Mexico - production from North Sea oil reached its zenith in 1999 and falling since then to a cup from 6 to 9 percent per year. In Mexico, we reached the historical peak of oil extraction in 2005/06 and since then the collection falls into a cup of over 10% per year. Perhaps it may be interesting to see what is happening in England, even with cultural differences, climate, economy, political system or human development, one can observe some possible answers to how to respond to personal and collective level in a scenario of declining energy soon to be dominant reality for most communities in Mexico and Latin America.
