A comienzos de Julio el emergente equipo del Instituto de Permacultura
de Chile se reunió en Maria Pinto el hogar del El Llamado del Espino. Se ha
progresado mucho desde nuestra primera reunión. Se reconoció rápidamente que
estábamos cayendo en una confusión de comunicación cibernética y necesitábamos
encontrar una estructura para tomar decisiones.
Se ofreció Rodrigo Blum, asistido por Javiera y Grifen para crear una
estructura de administración. Cinco grupos fueron asignados un proyecto piloto
para coordinar las actividades del equipo; Grupos - Doctor Francisco, Robin
Hood - Ingeniero Blue, Educación – Ingeniera Sophia, Demostración – Veterinaria
Fabiola, y Redes – Empresario José. Cada piloto tiene una lista de tareas para
completar y hace reportes regulares a Blue y después todo el equipo.
En María Pinto cada grupo dieron breves presentaciones de su progreso.
La visión, misión, objetivos y modelos de procesos para tomar decisiones fueron
demostrados y acordados por consenso. Acciones prioritarias fueron decididas y
delegadas.
Este equipo va a impresionar esta nación. Una estructura jurídica y un
sitio-web están en camino, un registro de profesores y estudiantes, cursos,
membresía, promociones, productos y servicios, sitios de exhibiciones
conectados y mucho, mucho más.
El grupo están creando una cultura muy buena de reunirse, mirando tras
el consenso, desarrollando las técnicas de la facilitación y presentación, de
estar juntos y tomar decisiones importantes como grupo. Para mi la parte mas
divertida del fin de semana fue el proceso de selección de un logo. Se hizo una
serie de presentaciones de diseños mostrando varas posibilidades de varios
miembros de los grupos. Cada una fue explicado brevemente, admirada y debatida;
un manzano sobre una cabeza, una bota de goma en un perro, un caracol colorido,
un flor nativa, una versión del huevo de Mollison y otras. Después se hizo una ficha;
¿Cuál recuerdas más? ¿Cuál fue el que más te gustó? ¿Cómo puedes mejorarlo?
El colectivo decidió usar el caracol de Sophia – lenta pero constante se
gana la carrera… todos estaban de acuerdo que era un buen símbolo y acordaron
en buscar un diseñador para hacerlo profesionalmente.
¡Fantástico, amo a esta gente! Estoy entusiasmado por las posibilidades.
Empiezo a entender de qué se trata esto del liderazgo invisible… liderazgo del
diseño, praxis de la intención. Y también la necesidad que tenemos nosotros de
entender las técnicas fundamentales dentro de nuestra comunidad de creadores de
cambio, en particular, el arte del reportaje, encontrar amigos y aliados.
El siguiente día decidimos darle bienvenida a nuestro colega Gustavo
Lerner y a hablar en conjunto sobre lo bio-regional y tomar algunas decisiones
sobre el diseño. La intención inicial fue de intentar de juntar los dos grupos
de permacultura y ecología para encontrar los puntos en común… pero no resultó.
Después que el asunto del instituto fue conversado nos reunimos con los ecos
bajo el sol de la mañana y caminamos por el sitio. Fueron ambos una oportunidad
de respirar aire fresco y tener buenas conversaciones. Hubo algunos avances y
nuevas conecciones.
Que bello lugar para un curso de diseño y encuentro. Gracias Mati.

Permaculture Institute in Maria Pinto

In early July the emerging team of Institute Chileno de Permacultura gathered in Maria Pinto the home of El Llamado del Espino. Much progres has been made behind the scenes since our first meeting. It was quickly recognised that we were descending into internet communication confusion and we needed to find a structure for making decisions.
Rodrigo Blum stepped up, assisted by Javiera and Grifen to develop a structure of administration. The five core teams were assigned a Pilot to manage the activities of the team; Grupo de Grupo - Doctor Fransisco, Robin Hood - Engineer Blum, Education - Engineer Sophia, Demonstration - Veterinarian Fabiola, and Networking - Entrepreneur Jose . Each pilot has a list of tasks to be achieved and makes regular report to Blum and then the whole team.
At Mario Pinto each group made a brief presentation of their progress. The vision, mission, objectives and decision making processes were presented and agreed on by consensus. Priority actions were decided and delegated.
This team is going to rock this nation. A legal structure and a website are on the way, a teacher and student register, courses, membership, promotions, products and services, connected demonstration sites and much much more.
The crew are developing a very nice culture of meeting, looking beyond consensus, developing the skills of facilitation and presentation, of being together and making important decisions as a group. The most enjoyable part of the weekend for me was going through the process of selecting a logo. A series of design presentations were made showing various possibilities from different members. Each was briefly explained, admired and debated; an apple tree on a head, a gumboot on a dog, a colourful snail, native flower, a version of the Mollison egg and others. A survey was carefully taken; which do you most remember, which do you like, how could it be improved.
The collective decided on the snail by Sofia - slow and steady wins the race...all agreed it was a good symbol and agreed to find a designer to do it professionally.
Fantastic, I love these people! I am excited about the possibilities. I begin to understand what this invisible leadership is all about...design leadership the praxis of intention. And also the need for us to develop fundamental skills in our communities of changemakers, in particular the art of reporting, finding friends and allies.
The following day we agreed to welcome our colleagues Gustavo Lerner and co to talk about the bioregional and make some design decisions. Our initial intention was to try and bring the two groups of permaculture and eco together to find common ground...to no avail. After the institute business was said and done we joined eco in the morning sun and walked the site. A breath of fresh air and good conversation all the same. A few breakthroughs were made and new connections.
