The prices of all of our courses are based on a sliding scale. This
means you pay what you can afford. We have based this on international
average annual income figures so;
• If you earn $US25000 or more you pay the E1 price.
• If you earn $US15-25000 you pay the E2 price.
• If you earn $US7500-15000 you pay the E3 price.
• If you earn less you may be eligible for a Professional Trueke or Scholarship.
• People from poor communities may be able to attend free.
We believe this to be the fairest way of deciding the value of our events. We rely on your honesty.
This is a method used widely in the permaculture world that always causes confusion. We
think it represents a more equitable manner that considers the value of
international currency and individual differences in income. Please take it seriously as an opportunity to invest in a transformative educational experience.
We
ask you pay the maximum you can afford, as a direct investment in
sustainability and people we're trying to make a difference by
supporting The Apple in the development and delivery of high quality
education.
Please consider that course prices include all food, comfort and share. Please talk to us if you have questions. All Prices in Chilean pesos.
Early Bird Prices
If you book for our courses and pay in full 30 days before we will give you a 10% discount on the full price.
Couples and Groups
If you come with a partner or friend we will give you a 10% discount on the full fee that you can afford. For example if you have a high combined income you will receive a discount on the E1 price. If you bring other members of your family, community or group each person will be entitled to a 10% discount.
Students
Having been there ourselves we know the situation of student income and costs. We realise that it is difficult for students to pay the fee and are willing to accommodate this. However we also know that the PDC will enable you to bring a new level of professionalism to your career whatever it might be. This course will open doors for you everywhere in the world, and is an internationally recognised prerequisite for a Permaculture Diploma or Gaia University degree pathway. We have had many students take our courses, and most manage to find the money from parents, friends or by working. We encourage you to do the same. We will also give you a 10% discount on the minimum course price. If you cannot pay this we suggest you wait until such time as you have the resources necessary.
Trueke
We are open to trueke or intercambio where you pay part of the course fee (for example minimum of 70%) and we trade the rest of the value for your precious time working for us in an hour for hour exchange. 1 hour of my time is worth one hour of yours. We value all our courses on the basis of 8 hours x 2 people working to serve you per day. So for a 16 day course the value is 256 hours. If you pay 70% of the total course cost in cash you will be required to repay us the remaining 30% in hours. For example you pay us $196000 and then work 76.8 hours for the remaining $84000.
Time owed will be agreed in a signed agreement between you and Ecoescuela and will go into a time bank with all details recorded. These hours can be completed in El Manzano or in your own community in many ways for us.
People who do this time in El Manzano will pay $5000 per day for food and accommodation and will have the opportunity to work with our team on permaculture projects. Hours are worked out with this formula;
Scholarships
It is our well known policy to provide scholarships to students with low income. However we only have a limited number of places available with a scholarship price. If you think you qualify for a scholarship please fill out our application form. We will consider your application carefully and may give you a scholarship, or negotiate a trueke with you.
Children
El Manzano is family friendly, we believe that Transition Families organising themselves in their own household economies and communities will be key to sustainability. We know that children can be a distracting influence in the classroom, and they also bring a dynamic element to any course. We encourage you to bring your children. Children will pay 50% of the course cost.
Course Prices
These are the base fees for all of our course formats. However every course is a little different, with different teachers and needs for resources, materials, travel etc. They will be adjusted on a course by course basis. So don’t be surprise if the price of a specific course is different to these numbers here. We also update them periodically to match changes in the global economic situation.
