Transition Town El Manzano builds Community Centre

Green Building & the Permaculture Master Plan in Chile

El Manzano sets out to build a campus of the great reskilling, implementing a permaculture master plan, and a summer of bioconstruction. So ends a cycle of change, and another cycle begins.

Since 2009 we have been working on the plans to make El Manzano a world class centre for sustainable education that equips people with the values, knowledge and skills needed to make the transition from an unsustainable growth culture to resilient human communities. As we begin to attract more and more visitors students and interns our facilities are often found to be lacking, and not of a quality befitting a green campus.

Testing the New Worldwide Permaculture Database

Beta Version goes Online

The Permaculture Research Institute has made a phenominal gift to the worldwide permaculture community; the facebook of permaculture. The database will give more exposure to the globl Permaculture project and our international network of actionists working for the transition. Craig Mackintosh of the PRI had this to say "We want to see people driving permaculture into the mainstream everywhere, and this system will be an important collection of tools to help bring this to pass — what some have termed a game changer."

All learning in action, day by day we are improving and refining our knowledge. Concern prompts us to learn what we need, the effort is maintained by the reward of seeing the work progress, and the mood is maintained by the teamwork that is essential.

Artsist Project Earth supports Permaculture in Chile

Investing in Transition Towns

Ecoescuela is overwhelmed to announce the receipt of US$5000 for the reconstruction of homes in the village of El Manzano. The Artists Project for Earth has made this donation for developing earthquake-proof housing that can be replicated throughout the affected regions of Chile, and will promote a change in policy and practice for earthquake reconstruction through local and regional government.

´´It´s Alive!´´ Instituto Chileno de Permacultura

The Instituto de Permacultura Chile held its final meeting for the year with our friends from Maiwe Ecovillage. El Manzano extends a heartfelt thanks to this team of pioneers in Chile; changing the world one mind at a time. 2009 has been a very busy year getting organised, and we have achieved many positive things!

In 2009 we formed a team, developed a shared vision, created a culture of working together, created public events and explored being in economy together, designed a website and logo, we mobilised a network, made many more small and large steps, sin prisa sin pausa. The team have defied the odds and deflected the criticisms, to maintain a positive and dynamic group experimenting with organisational structures and decision making processes.
