Improving and Refining our Knowledge

The construction of a new home for me and my family began in Ecoescuela El Manzano, September 28th we embarked on the adventure of eco-construction and bio-auto opening a door to the world of creating with his hands and effort, the physical structures we see. All learning in action, day by day we are improving and refining our knowledge. Concern prompts us to learn what we need, the effort is maintained by the reward of seeing the work progress, and the mood is maintained by the teamwork that is essential.

Cuando la Iniciativa País de POiU, un proyecto de intercambio de valores con su propia divisa complementaria, ofreció auspiciar media beca para un asociado de la Universidad Gaia para consultar tanto sobre asuntos técnicos como ecológicos, Trent Rhode, estudiante de maestría, sintió que él sería un excelente candidato. “He usado computadores como forma primaria de expresión - imágenes digitales, diseño de páginas web, comunicación y escritos - la mayor parte de mi vida.  También soy un experimentado diseñador permacultural e instructor.

Buscan Oportunidades de Proyectos Internacionales

Los asociados de Universidad Gaia que buscan oportunidades de proyectos internacionales luego podrán aplicar sus metas de aprender en acción a través de los servicios del Cuerpo de Paz.  Una nueva colaboración entre la Universidad Gaia y el Cuerpo de Paz les permitirá a los alumnos obtener un grado de licenciado o maestría en Diseño Integrativo Ecosocial a través del servicio regular de dos años en el Cuerpo de Paz, sirviendo éste como su año (final) culminante. Los asociados participan en proyectos dirigidos a inseguridad alimenticia y cambio climático global a través de diseño permacultural, crianza orgánica, educación en salud y organización comunitario.

Universidad Gaia fue un potente representante en la 10ª Convergencia Anual de Construcción de Aldeas (CCA) de City Repair, en Pórtland, Oregon, 28 de Mayo – 6 de Junio. Una conferencia combinada de permacultura y construcción natural, gigantesca fiesta de trabajo voluntario y profundo ejercicio en construcción comunitaria, la CCA une a “transformadores del mundo” de todo el país y el mundo para compartir sus conocimientos y colaborar en proyectos locales.

Ecological Design Science

By Joanne Tippett. The aim of this work is a cross-disciplinary integration of ideas specifically relevant to permaculture design and the physical structure of human settlements. Although this work is ambitious in scope, I feel this is an important element of the writing, to present an overview such that the reader is able to see the inter-relations of many ideas relevant to design. This is a synthesis of a kind which I believe has so far not been attempted.

The original book contains much essential detail behind each of the following patterns and is recommended reading.

We begin with that part of the language which defines a town or community. These patterns can never be "designed" or "built" in one fell swoop- but patient piecemeal growth, designed in such a way that every individual act is always helping to create or generate these larger global patterns, will, slowly and surely, over the years, make a community that has these global patterns in it.
