New thinking about what we´re eating

ONCE UPON A TIME

The weekend pasado we joined with our Permaculture colleagues in Biobio to catch up after a winter of hibernation and plan for the coming year. After 6 months of conversation through internet since our last meeting we decided it was time to meet face to face. Our last meeting was in the middle of winter where we held the first regional bioregional food cooperative trueke day in June. We agreed to meet at the beach to give us all the opportunity to get away, and to support the efforts of Fabiola and Richi in Cobquequra and Daniel in Rinconada.

A COMMUNITY GETTING ORGANISED IN THE VALLEY OF LIFE

Last friday Ecoescuela attended the second event of social organisations for sustainability in Valley Nonguen. We set up our stand in a small abandoned school in the valley of life, a beautiful setting, buzzing with energy. On a beautiful friday morning in the warm spring sun we laid out our books on the soil, covered our prescious herbs and tomato plants with shade, and made ourselves comfortable to sit and talk permaculture with interested people.

La comida es una pieza clave en el desarrollo y permanencia de la especie humana sobre la Pachamama; a menos que algún día seamos capaces de comernos las máquinas, el cemento, la angustia y la desesperación… o bien el etanol o el biodiesel, y poder seguir trabajando duro para alguna vez poder dejar de ser llamados tercermundistas. Es curioso el camino hacia el primer mundo, ya que mientras más “avanzamos” hacia él,  más nos alejamos de la esencia, de lo que nos permite seguir día a día, la lucha hacia algo que poco a poco cae por nuestro lado, mientras subimos esta escalera. La tranquilidad, la esperanza y la motivación que entrega la tierra por medio de sus alimentos. La vitalidad, la salud y la fuerza de para poder desarrollarnos nada más que como seres humanos.

MEDIANIAS 2008-2009

Esta temporada la Agrícola y Forestal El Manzano realizó una medianía con cuatro personas del la Villa El Manzano, los cuales trabajan actualmente en la empresa. La Agrícola y Forestal El Manzano aporto con 0.6 ha de terreno, maquinaria, labranza de suelo, agua de riego, la mitad de la semilla, materiales para la fabricación de compost y abonos foliares. Ellos aportaron con el manejo del cultivo, el riego, la mitad de la semilla, la fabricación del compost, y la aplicación de los abonos foliares. La siembra y la cosecha se hicieron en conjunto. La repartición de lo cosechado es 50% para la Agrícola y Forestal El Manzano y el restante 50% para ellos.

Our children play run and laugh together, the neighbors greet, share smiles and glances, the conversation begins. This is the Community of the El Manzano. The faces are repeated, been those it jeopardize more, although by the field people are shameful and many think that they would not be a contribution in the meeting.

Time… that will only give security them. We were 16 in the meeting (more than 6 children). The first dynamic was to present/display and to share a positive quality of our community in El Manzano, in contrast to the first meeting where we alluded to ourselves.

Tranquillity, pure air, the heat of the people, the union, silence, the effort, the field of baby in the school and much more, constitute the reflection of the town of El Manzano in front of the eyes of their inhabitants.
