The Great Reskilling in Slow Town El Manzano

It has been said that we are the most useless generation that ever walked the earth (Hopkins, 2008). Our cosy western lifestyles have led us to reliance on the supermarket, and food transported thousands of kilometres around the planet. As we have chased economic growth at all costs, we have rejected a lifestyle where we had to take care of our own needs, and many of the basic skills that go along with resilient simple living. We forgot once common knowledge, common sense, like how to cook and preserve, to grow our own food, build our own homes, how to fix things when they break, how to live in community.

Permaculture Diploma

2303378035_25c6b5456e.jpgThe permaculture Design Diploma is a two year process of documenting your work in the world, demonstrating how you are applying the ethics and principles of permaculture.

The diploma process is a pathway to help you use and develop your permaculture design and implementation skills more effectively with relatively little effort. Importantly, it is much more than something just for those that want to teach design certificate courses. It is emerging as perhaps the most effective way for anyone to continue their permaculture learning and implementation process, whether that involves teaching or not, anyone wanting to continue their learning about sustainable living, and any one wanting to achieve their goals in life more effectively.

The first Diploma system was created by Bill Mollison. Now there are many Diploma systems around the world emerging from specific countries.
